Acts of kindness

I've recently downloaded an app called 'gives me hope' from the itunes store. Its basically an app where anybody and everybody can submit a line of squiggle about what gives them hope.

Every so often i remember iv downloaded it and click on to see the new stories that have been uploaded. Its brilliant! The things i read get me realising life isn't as bad as we sometimes think. Bearing in mind anybody can share their story, you get teens, people who have lost somebody recently, a whole range of different people from different backgrounds.

Its inspiring to read how other people brighten somebodys day with the smallest act of kindness. I scrolled across a young girl thanking an anonymous person for writing a note on the bathroom mirror at school saying 'smile you are beautiful' it was heart warming that a young person is still able to be kind despite the reputation they have, just shows reputation can only be applied to specific people. We cant stereotype 'teens' as groups.

As i was reading, I then came across another post saying 'an old man came up to me in mcdonalds when i was about to cry. he said 'you know, your blessed. Jesus loves you even more than you love yourself. This man and his kindness gives me hope.' People change lives with just one sentence, whether for good or bad is up to you.

Once you stumble across the app its hard to stop reading. The inspiration you gain is priceless, it leaves you in a good mood for the day. You begin to realise how easy it is to put a smile on somebodys face, they don't even have to know it was you responsible for it.

So I'm now reading and reading, unable to put this app down and come across another post 'over the summer, there was a kid on Tumblr that was telling everybody that he was going to commit suicide. I wrote him a 3 page letter online giving him reasons not to. This weekend, that kid is my homecoming date.' How awesome is that?!

This app really does give hope. The stories on there are awe inspiring, have to thank the developer for this little treasure, i do wonder what specifically made him choose to put his app out there. While it seems obvious i wonder where hes come from and gone through, maybe thats a project to work on next, speak to him!

I'd recommend a download to anybody, further more its free! Its not religion based although of course you will stumble over other people who are, but its suitable for everybody.
